Welcome to the Brandywine Hounds Pony Club

Brandywine Hounds Pony Club (BHPC) is a non-profit organization that teaches horsemanship to young people through the age of 25.  Its ideal is a simple one - a happy, comfortable child on a happy, comfortable horse.

Though the ideal is simple, members of Pony Club learn far more than how to ride a horse.  They also develop responsibility, leadership, cooperation and self-confidence.  Established in 1957, BHPC has been an affiliated member of the United States Pony Club (USPC) since 1961.  We are located in South Eastern Pennsylvania with members coming from Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.

Pony Club is the leading junior equestrian organization in the world, represented in 30 countries. There are over 600 clubs in the United States with nearly 13,000 members.  Pony Club provides instruction and activities essential to the development and nurturing of the child's attraction to, fascination with, and affection for horses. Yet at the same time, emphasizing responsible use and care of horses at all times and in all phases of horsemanship.  Throughout Pony Club the 3 R's of Riding, Reading and Responsibility strengthen not only horsemanship but everyday virtues as well.

"As a member of the United States Pony Club, I stand for the best in sportsmanship as well as in horsemanship.  I shall compete for enjoyment of the game well played and take winning or losing in stride, remembering that without good manners and good temper; sport loses its cause for being.  I shall endeavor to maintain the best tradition of the ancient and noble skill of horsemanship, always treating my horse with consideration due a partner."
